5. Kur'an metni ve tilavet

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 5 September 2026 · Last updated: 5 September 2026

In short: Hira has no server and no accounts. Your worship data stays on your phone and is deleted along with the app. Your location is used on your device to calculate prayer times and the qibla; it is sent to OpenStreetMap only to look up your city name, to search an address, and to find nearby mosques. To keep the app free, Google AdMob serves ads, and Google processes the data involved in that.

1. Whose policy is this?

I publish Hira on my own, as an independent developer. There is no company, no legal entity and no team. Every privacy question, request or complaint reaches me directly:

This policy covers the iOS and Android versions of Hira — Namaz Vakti, Kıble.

2. No account, no server

You do not sign up for Hira. I do not ask for your name, email, phone number or a password. There is no server of mine that the app connects to; no backend was ever built that collects, stores or sells your data. That is also why there is no "delete my account" address to write to — no account is ever created.

3. Data that stays on your phone

Everything the app keeps is stored in the private area the operating system reserves for each app (UserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android), on your device only. None of it is sent to me, and I have no access to it:

If you want to delete it: uninstalling the app is enough. Uninstalling removes all of this data from the device. I hold no backup of it and it cannot be recovered. (Your phone's own backup settings — iCloud or Google backup — may have included this data in a backup; that is under the control of your device settings.)

4. Location

4.1 The calculation happens on your device

Prayer times and the qibla direction are calculated from your location entirely inside your phone. Nothing is sent to any server for that calculation. If you do not grant the location permission, the app keeps working; you can select your city by hand.

4.2 City name and address search (OpenStreetMap / Nominatim)

So that the screen can show the name of your city instead of "Current location", your coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent to nominatim.openstreetmap.org, which returns a place name. In the same way, if you type a city or address into the search box, the text you typed is sent to the same service.

These requests are made only for that one query. Once the answer arrives the job is done; the coordinates or search text that were sent are not stored anywhere on my side — I have no server to store them on.

4.3 Nearby mosques (Overpass API)

When you open the mosque finder, your coordinates and the search radius are sent to public Overpass servers, which query OpenStreetMap data. The app tries these public endpoints in order, moving on to the next if one does not answer: overpass-api.de, overpass.kumi.systems, overpass.private.coffee, overpass.osm.ch. These are publicly available servers run by volunteers; they are not operated by me, and each has its own usage and logging policy.

4.4 What do these services see?

As with any internet request, these services see the IP address the request comes from and the query that was sent (the coordinates, or the address you typed). The app does not attach any identity, user number or advertising identifier to these requests. These services belong to the OpenStreetMap community; for their own terms, see the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

5. Quran text and recitation

Four surahs ship inside the app and work without an internet connection. When you open any other surah, the text is downloaded from api.alquran.cloud and the audio recitation from everyayah.com. A surah you have opened once is cached on your device and can be read offline afterwards.

These requests carry only which surah or ayah you asked for; no identity of yours is sent. As with any web request, those servers see the IP address.

6. Ads (Google AdMob)

Hira is free and is supported by Google AdMob ads. Google serves the ads, and Google processes the data needed to show and measure them. According to Google's own disclosure, this data can include:

You can read how Google uses this data at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

I run no ad server, no tracking infrastructure and no analytics tool. Apart from Google AdMob, the app contains no analytics, measurement or crash reporting SDK of any kind.

6.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland

If you are in one of these regions, Google's consent form (UMP — User Messaging Platform) is shown to you before any ads begin. There you can allow personalised ads or choose non-personalised ads. The app does not start the ads SDK until you have given your answer in that form.

If you want to change your decision later, you can reopen the same form from Settings → Ad privacy options. (That row only works in regions where consent is required.)

6.2 App Tracking Transparency on iOS

On iOS, whether the advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used for ad personalisation is decided by Apple's tracking permission prompt. You are asked, and your answer is respected: if you decline, the app does not use that identifier and ads are shown non-personalised. Declining does not switch off any feature — prayer times, qibla, the Quran and the dhikr counter all work exactly the same.

To change your decision later, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and turn Hira's permission on or off.

6.3 Resetting or disabling the advertising identifier

6.4 When ads are not shown

Ads are restricted so that they never get in the way of worship:

If you wish, you can watch a rewarded ad to earn a 6-hour ad-free period. That is entirely your choice.

7. Permissions and why they are asked for

8. Sharing

If you choose to share your streak card, the image is first created in the device's temporary folder, and then your phone's own share sheet opens. You decide where to send it; I never see that image and never copy it anywhere.

9. Children's privacy

Hira is a worship app aimed at a general audience; it is not designed for, nor marketed to, children. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children — I have no server that collects personal data from anyone at all. Ad content is capped at the "general audience" (G) rating so that it stays in line with the app's age rating. If your child uses the app and you have a concern, write to me and we will look at it together.

10. Security

Every network request the app makes goes over HTTPS, encrypted. The data stored on your device is kept in the protected per-app area provided by the operating system and cannot be read by other apps.

11. If this policy changes

As the app changes, this page is updated too. The effective date at the top is renewed with every change. If something important changes, I will also try to say so inside the app.

12. Contact

If you have a problem, an objection, or you simply wonder "how is that piece of data handled?", write to me: cemgnr46@gmail.com. I answer as quickly as I can.
